Samuel D. Carpenter is retired, formerly a shareholder and then of counsel to the Firm. He was born in 1931 in Columbus, Ohio. In 1953, he graduated from Ohio University and then served two years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1958 and joined the Firm the same year. Sam retired from the practice of law at the end of 2008.
Sam is active in many community organizations.
He and his wife, Helga, and all four of their children are graduates of the University of Michigan.
